WELCOME TO A. PARKER, SIDE OF THE ROAD

Shows and Experiences

Woody Guthrie said "The best way to get to know a bunch of people is to go and listen to their music"  I am here to do just that. A. Parker, Side of The Road serves as a library of my time traveling around playing music, meeting new people and slowly making my way around.

A.M.P in Auburn

A. Parker & The Second Amendments

There is this place in the middle of the woods, most of the time it is a home to one of my close friends and the center of operation to a screen printing business. But every once in awhile it turns into place where people drink beer, ride motorcycles, swim naked in the crick and play loud music in the garage. This night was one of those nights, I had showed up early before my show in Pottsville for a benefit thing Stoyer was doing for his dads motorcycle. The idea was spread around that if I got back from Pottsville maybe we would play some songs.

Pottsville was fun, but it was not my scene that day, too many cops, too many assholes, not many that cared about original music. So after I played I waled around for alittle and decided that my time had come to go. I said my goodbyes and I headed back to Auburn to drink whiskey with friends far away from cops.

As I pulled up to the street where the party was goin on, it was packed with cars and there was music blaring on the PA inside the garage. I snuck in through the back and finally got noticed by Justin the guitar player, who was just about to leave, but we had to play ha. So I had a few beers and set up my stuff, we were all pretty buzzed. We ripped 10 or 11 songs load and fast, drank beer and sang about exes and driving. I would say out first full band show was a success.

Stage West in Scranton PA

A. Parker

Starving Hysterical Naked

Blind Choice

The Crypid

The first time I met the SHN guys was at an open mic that my friend invited me too. Seemed like cool guys who had their shit together. Liked playing music and hated cover bands. Stage West is set in what I think is a old bank, its pretty cool, great sound, beer is WAY to expensive so it was mostly I dry show unless people bought me a shot. They rest of the bands were good, a lot of covers, but they seem young enough to be in that stage of the band. (start with covers, write songs, weed covers out) we have all been there and I dont think they are going to go the cover band road. All in all it was a really good show and I had a good drive home.

Mikes Tavern in Reading PA

A. Parker *

Drew & The Blue

Mikes Tavern is always a fun place to play, other that having to keep it down, you get free anything and the bartender, Eric, is a super nice guy. So ill gladly turn it down to play there any time. Drew & The Blue are cool fellas/gal. They had a great show doing their 50s covers and what not. I had the BPR guys back me up so it was full band, and I thought it sounded really well.

Hucklebucks in Pottsville

SOH

A. Parker*

The Martini Bros

The Barren Wells

Drew & The Blue

Yuengling Beers 190th Birthday came up this year, and instead of waiting 10 more years to have the 200th they decided to shut down Pottsville and have Better Than Ezra play, yes.... that 90s band that had one song. The concert took place at the bottom of a flood zone were all the junkies hang out, it wasn't washed or made to look nice they just plopped a giant ass stage and got food vender to set up along the street. People paid $12 for hamburgs and some people paid $80 for the VIP area that was the old parking garage that meth heads are paid to have sex with the buisness men in. Im sure there were a few couples there that the husband has "Parked his car" more than the wife. Parking was horrible and trash was everywhere. Im glad I was not apart of it.

I played at Hucklebuck, which was right next to the flow of drunks and junkies wandering the street for the event. It was a good show but people filtered out because of the main event about to start. Had a good time hung out for little and then after passing the 100th cop I decided this was not a safe place to be. I headed to a party in the woods to watch friends rip mini bikes while I ripped whiskey.

Pretty standard barn show. its always more of a bunch of friends hanging out and taking turns playing and shooting the shit. Never a bad time.

July 7th

Apartment show at "the apartment". "the blinker light"

A. Parker

Condition Oakland

Churches & Trains

Brandon K

Brian Huntress (MA)

Nervous (MA)

Another house shoe in the books, at least this time I did not have to hang up 70 pumpkins and what not. So it was a hell of a lot easier for me. Simple show 5 acts, Brian Huntress is on tour and needed a place to have a show, Tyler couldn't get a place to do it so I offered up my space. I never mind having house shows. Brian told me his one friends band got dropped from a show in Philly so he wondered if they could play. They are call Nervous, they are a really good band and everyone seems pretty solid too. They have a horn player so that was nice to have, something to mix it up. Show went smooth and everything was done by 11, had my friend Sharon in from Mississippi for the past few days so we had to get up early and take her to the airport at 3 am. I think every as I'm writing this that next day at work the Nervous folks are still in the apartment playing chess.

Until the next house show.
